The town of Saint-Brieuc is located in northwest France on the Gouet River and is the capital of the Côtes-d'Armor department. Saint-Brieuc has a population of over 50,000 inhabitants and is situated on the Bay of Saint-Brieuc on the English Channel. The primary industries of Saint-Brieuc are the manufacturing of textiles and metals and the town attracts many visitors each year due to its harbor location.

Saint-Brieuc is an old town that was established during the 5th century and is named after St. Briomach, a Welsh missionary that built a monastery in the town during the 6th or 7th century. Saint-Brieuc is an attractive town consisting of waterfront views, many gardens, beautiful old architecture and many sandy beaches that are within a short distance to the town.

Some of the notable attractions in Saint-Brieuc include the Saint-Brieuc Cathedral which was constructed during the 14th and 15th centuries and serves as a national monument of Brittany. There is also the impressive Saint Michael’s Church built by Louis Lorin, the town architect, in the New Classical style, and the magnificent Saint-Pierre Basilque.

For cultural enthusiasts there is the Museum de Saint-Brieuc which contains unique art and paintings from different periods in the history of Saint-Brieuc. There is also the famous Art Rock Festival that takes place during the month of May every year and offers modern music with performance art to over 35,000 visitors. The festival combines new and upcoming international artists with established artists as well as a wide variety of contemporary art.

Saint-Brieuc is considered a primary market town and tourism destination for northern Brittany and the port at the Bay of Saint-Brieuc provides vessels for fishing fleets bound for Newfoundland and Iceland. It is also home to a navigation school which is located in the centre of Saint-Brieuc.
