Located seven kilometers away from the heart of the bustling French capital of Paris, Vincennes is a small French town which is a part of the Val-de-Marne district. Vincennes falls in the Arrondissement of Nogent-Sur-Marne that has a total of 14 communes and 15 cantons.

Much of the historical significance of this quaint French town stems from the fact that Marquis de Sade, the most famous French writer and aristocrat of his time was captured and imprisoned here in the late 18th century. During the middle of the 19th century, a test was performed to evaluate the efficacy of the Minie Ball, a well-known invention by the famous office Claude Minie. The invention was used by the French army after it was perfected and tested thereafter.

There are a number of sights that people can visit while traveling in Vincennes. Amongst the most well-known tourist attractions is the Parc Floral. It is considered to be one of the most breathtaking gardens in the city of Paris. Parc Floral showcases a variety of beautiful botanical wonders like the Bonsai, Iris, Rhododendron and Camellia. A short walk through the garden, or even a picnic can be a great way of spending time at the Parc Floral.

A major sight of attraction in Vincennes is the majestic Chateau de Vincennes. The origin of the castle dates back to the 14th century when it was built. Chateau de Vincennes was originally built by Louis VII during the 12th century. However, most parts of it were constructed under the aegis of Louis IX during the 14th century. Chateau de Vincennes spans for a length of nearly a kilometer.

Along with the castle, visitors can also visit the porcelain factory, the military school, and the old state prison to get a taste of medieval France.
