The city of
Bobigny is located in north central France and is the capital of the Seine-Saint-Denis department.
Bobigny is one of the suburbs of
Paris and the seat of the Arrondissement of
Bobigny. It is also the 12th largest commune in Seine-Saint-Denis. The primary industries are the manufacturing of toys, metals, and food products.
The industrial area of
Bobigny is located to the south and west with primary housing in the centre of the city. The older part of the city lies to the north along with buildings that were built during the early 20th century dotting the area of
Bobigny. The city also contains interesting archaeological sites that date back to 350 BC along with a necropolis of over 500 tombs which is the largest collection in Europe that dates back to this period.
If you visit the city centre you can see the magnificent Bourse du Travail which is the Trades union centre constructed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer and the impressive Town Hall which contains heart-shaped seats and a beautiful Wedding Room.
Nearby is the beautiful Parc de la Bergère which offers the events "L'été du Canal" and "
Bobigny sur Ourcq". The gardens of this beautiful park open up into a beach that offers classes in rowing and a variety of different circus shows and is located on the canal de l'Ourcq and Vallonné.
For cultural enthusiasts you can enjoy the Maison de la Culture de Seine-Saint-Denis which has a beautiful glass entrance and offers a wide variety of performances from well known international artists and companies and is currently undergoing a project to establish the National Theatre of France. There is also the Canal 93 which works in cooperation with the Louvre Museum to offer an array of interesting performances, seminars and the Spoken Words Festival.
